Why Venture Capital?

I have been an entrepreneur my entire life. Prior to co-founding Starboard Star, I was President and owner of Lionsmark Investment Group, a private real estate investment and management company I formed in 2016. Its primary business was the acquisition, development and management of multifamily assets and other active and passive real estate investments.

My professional career begin in 1992 as a Project Engineer with a subsidiary of Waste Management where I performed value engineering and cost controls related to environmental remediation and landfill construction. In 1996, my entrepreneurial spirit led me to the real estate industry, where I served various roles which ultimately included President and Owner of Radney Management & Investments. Radney specialized in the acquisition, development and management of government subsidized low-income and conventional workforce multifamily housing across the United States. I sold my interests in this company in 2016 and started Lionsmark. I am a Certified Property Manager with the Institute of Real Estate Management.

Outside of Work

Raised in Houston, I strive to put my faith in practice with my time, talent and treasure. I have served as an Executive Vestry Member of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church (largest Episcopal church in the USA) and as a Trustee of Episcopal High School. I have been actively involved in several capital campaigns and building construction projects for these organizations. I am a member of Young Presidents’ Organization (former executive board member) and a member of several Houston area social clubs. In my spare time I enjoy traveling, photography, golf and tinkering with electronic and mechanical equipment.

I find my work with these various organizations is extremely similar in nature to working with and developing the talent of the entrepreneurs in our portfolio companies. The relationships formed across these various entities have added tremendous value to this effort.
